Below are the PDFs for each of the book sections. I am getting a proof copy printed and bound and should have individual copies for each of you on day zero. Take a look through the PDFs. Since this is a proof copy there will be mistakes and room for changes. The cover for the book will be the texture map on the white background. The first page on the inside will be the inverse of that image (see page 1 of FRONT MATTER).
Below are a few page layouts from the book. Header, footer and image captions are not updated for each image or drawing. I wanted to give each of you a glimpse into the page layout, which is very similar to what we discussed in Uruguay. The book will have a tri-tone color scheme. Blue (Sea), Black & White, Redish (Brick) All front-matter (contents), study section intros (material practices), and back-matter (postcript) will have a deep blue tone (CMYK: 82,57,14,1 / RGB: 60,108, 161). Each of the three study sections will consist primarily of black and white images with the exception of full spread color images, especially the brick in the material practices section. Of course there are exceptions to these “graphic rules”. The plan is to send a print proof to the publishers by Friday August 1st. Hopefully I will have a draft copy when we meet on Tuesday, August 12th. I will post versions of the book cover before August 12th.
It has been very fun to read and look through your sketchbooks after returning to Brookings. If you have not had a chance to read Alex’s take on our visit to Durazno take a look below.
